Classroom
Segment
· Introductory Orientations and
Explanations of CDL Requirements.
· CDL Study Session – Basic
Skills Testing.
· CDL Study Session – Air
Brakes Testing.
· CDL Study Session – Optional
endorsements (hazardous materials and tankers).
*These sessions will incorporate
Visual films and Individual Instructional Materials.
· Basic Vehicle Operation
Instruction, Emergency Equipment, First Aid Kits and Safety Techniques.
· Defensive Driving and
Accident Prevention Techniques.
· Proper Mental Attitude for a
Commercial Driver.
Laboratory Segment
· Pre-trip Vehicle and
Equipment Inspection and Checks.
· Air Brake Testing and
Simulations.
· Emergency Procedures and
Passenger Handling.
· Extreme Weather Emergency
Driving Techniques.
Range Segment
·
Modern Shifting
and Proper Clutch Control Techniques.
·
Straight
Backing and Parallel Parking of Vehicle.
·
Entering and
Exiting a Highway.
·
Loading and Securing
Cargo.
Road Segment
· On the Road Vehicle Training with a Duel Controlled Training Vehicle.
· In Vehicle Driving Instruction. Instruction to include: Highway Driving, Railroad Crossings, Over and Under Passes, Vehicle Passing.
· Speed and Space Management. Instruction to include: Curves, Crests and Hills.
· Road Test Review. Will include Simulated Road Tests on Vehicle to be used on Actual Road Test.
